Following a holiday and time abroad with work I have managed to tidy up the last few items on the SVA fail list. Handbrake adjustment was simple, added a couple of extra clamps for good measure. On the engine side, I decided to try and do a compression test on the inlet side. I clamped a piece of rubber sheet over the inlet manifold, disconnected the power to the injectors and turned the engine over. This sucked the rubber sheet down and showed up a leak around the spray bar. I then put hylomar on the injector rail ends to seal the removable seals on and the tick over was much better. I took the car for an emissions test and a brake test at the local Renault garage before going to SVA to check the changes out. Emissions were just legal (lambda 1.03) and the brakes were again just legal with a heavy front bias to the right. Bled the brakes and found that the right front has an air lock, sorted. Also found the the idle on the engine was helped by putting a small restrictor in the vacuum feed from the inlet manifold to the fuel regulator. Ready for SVA now.
